Cruising With Confidence Guest Article
We all felt like millionaires on this yacht
By Danny Joel - Sales Manager (South), Scenic & Emerald Cruises
I had the privilege of hosting a group of agents on board Scenic Eclipse on her debut visit to Fowey in the UK. To see the World’s First Discovery Yacht arrive in this quaint little fishing village was quite a moment, not only to see her on our own turf, but the realisation that cruising was back. It was a short itinerary from Fowey – Isle of Wight - Bruges then Amsterdam, however for me it was more of a reminder of her exceptional on-board facilities and services, extensive dining options and her impressive technological capabilities, which simply set her apart from any other ship. It was simply mind-blowing and the agents were left speechless – we all felt like millionaires on this yacht, even if it was only for three nights.

The design and exterior of the ship is so sleek, that it looks like it belongs in Monte Carlo. It’s iconic, like something out of a movie. Then you go inside and it’s like [the Dr Who] Tardis: it’s so well laid out you don’t actually feel you’re on a ship of that size, and there’s so much personal space. I’ve been lucky enough to have some phenomenal experiences in the past 20 years selling cruise, and this blew everything out of the water.
