    CLIA Announces Call for Nominations for 2017 CLIA Hall of Fame Cruise Industry Awards

    Nominations are now open for Cruise Line’s International Association’s (CLIA) annual Hall of Fame Cruise Industry Awards, which recognize individuals and organizations whose efforts and accomplishments represent a significant contribution to the cruise industry. Members of CLIA, including Individual Agent Members, Travel Agencies’ and Cruise Lines, are encouraged to submit their choices by February 24.

    CLIA Responds to Labor Article in California Sunday Magazine

    A recent article in the California Sunday Magazine provided a one-sided and inaccurate view of Crewmember employment on cruise ships. The Members of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), which comprise more than 95% of all ocean-going cruise ships, see Crewmembers as family. A positive cruise experience for guests is dependent upon Crewmembers who are well-trained, well-treated, and find their work to be professionally and personally rewarding.

    Travel Trade Industry Joins Coalition to Combat Wildlife Trafficking Worldwide

    Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), American Society for Travel Agents (ASTA), and Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), announced today they will be working to help travelers recognize and avoid purchasing the illegal wildlife products that are decimating global populations of elephants, rhinos, tortoises and other endangered species. These actions support the mission of the U.S. Wildlife Trafficking Alliance (the Alliance), a public-private partnership in which corporate and non-profit member organizations, including WildAid and World Wildlife Fund (WWF), work together with governmental entities to raise awareness about the dangers of wildlife trafficking and to stop consumer demand for endangered species products. Together, the Associations serve more than 25 million travelers annually.

    Cruise Lines International Association Forms Alliance With Professional Travel Agents of North America

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced today it has formed an alliance with the Professional Travel Agents of North America (PTANA) organization. PTANA, formed in 2009, has joined CLIA as a 2017 Premier Member and has committed to 100 percent CLIA membership adoption among its approximately 150 travel agencies and 600 travel agents across 10 chapters nationwide.
