CLIA | News & Updates

It's a Really Simple way to keep up with CLIA news and events!

While browsing the Web, you may have come across the orange
icon on a website or blog (known as a "Chicklet"). With this simple, elegantly-interfaced business tool, you will be able to get the latest headlines from your favorite sites, including CLIA’s cruising.org, delivered to a single place with remarkable ease and efficiency. All the areas of expertise embedded in RSS (Really Simple Syndication) will allow you to access and develop, in essence, your own newspaper.

Why Should I subscribe to the CLIA RSS Feed?

RSS Feed will let you regularly check the pulse of the cruise line industry through a seamless, behind-the-scenes interface, a product of transparent technology that automatically updates itself. Once you are subscribed, all the content of “Cruise News” and  more will be delivered as it is published. The subscription is free of charge and simple to use.

What do I need to get started?

To get started all you need is a piece of software capable of  collecting and displaying RSS feeds called a “news reader”.  There are essentially three ways to set this up, but the simplest is probably just using your web browser.

As it turns out, many web browsers like Firefox (Windows & Mac) and Safari (Mac only) have this functionality built in.  Firefox users should visit this link to learn more. Safari users should look here. For users of Internet Explorer 6 (Windows only) there are a number of different plug-ins to choose from. The forthcoming version of Internet Explorer (IE7+ Windows only) has RSS capability built in.

Alternatively there are many websites like Yahoo, MSN, AOL and NewsGator which offer free online news readers. Finally, there are free and commercial stand alone applications, like FeedReader and FeedDemon, that do nothing but work with RSS feeds.
